ECCMID has become one of the most comprehensive and influential congresses in the field of infection and an exciting networking place bringing together >14,000 colleagues from all over the world. The scientific programme is built by the ECCMID Programme Committee, and independent group of experts representing all disciplines related to clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. The programme is built in two phases, based on submitted session proposals or submitted abstracts.
In the first phase, ESCMID study Groups, ESCMID affiliated/partner societies and ESCMID committees are invited to submit session proposals, which are then evaluated and selected by the Programme Committee. This first phase typically starts in April with opening the call for session proposals and ends in September with invitation to speakers of Keynote Lectures, Symposia, Educational Workshops, Open Forums and Meet-The-Expert sessions.
The second phase starts with opening the call for abstract submission. Abstracts are first evaluated by external reviewers, then taken into consideration by the Programme Committee for the creation of Oral 1-hour and 2-hour Sessions, Mini-Oral ePoster sessions, Mini-Oral Flash sessions, Paper Poster sessions and ePoster viewing.
