We have developed an in vitro methodology using proteoliposomes to study the assembly state and the transport activity of efflux pumps from Gram negative bacteria. We investigate the basis for multidrug recognition and transport in a quantitative way. Miniaturization of the system allows for the screening of efflux pump inhibitors. |
