JPIAMR in partnership with the Medical Research Council (MRC UKRI) are hosting a workshop on antibiotic resistance, specifically looking for input from Early to Mid-Career Researchers.

Antibiotic resistance is prevalent in bacterial infections across the world, threatening many of the fundamentals of modern medicine. A huge amount of work and funding has been focussed on understanding antibiotic resistance and developing novel strategies to overcome this growing problem. The question is, where are the remaining research gaps in this area? We are asking Early to Mid-Career Researchers to give us their thoughts on this question as they move to future leadership positions to best focus future research to tackle antibiotic resistance.

If you think you might have an excellent idea of what remains to be studied in the field of antibiotic resistance, then please consider submitting an abstract. The committee will aim to bring together a broad range of perspectives which will then be discussed in smaller breakout rooms.

We are looking for a wide perspective as to where gaps remain, rather than a specific research presentation. We aim to encompass a broad range of perspectives and expertise, covering all One Heath settings and encourage more interdisciplinary outlooks. Our definition of an Early to Mid-Career Researcher encompasses PhD students, postdocs and junior faculty.

If you would like to submit an abstract, to present what you think are the funding gaps in antibacterial resistance research, then please return a completed abstract submission form by May 13th, 2022 to amr@mrc.ukri.org.

The form can be downloaded in the right side menu.

Abstracts will be assessed by our Steering Committee and outcomes will be communicated by the 23rd of May 2022.

JPIAMR is in the process of updating the JPIAMR Strategic Research and Innovation Agenda, contributing to the development of the candidate One Health AMR Partnership. This activity will support to this process by allowing us to collect gaps and needs in the area of bacterial resistance.
