The European Antibiotic Awareness Day is an annual European public health initiative that aims at raising awareness on the threat that antibiotic resistance pose to global health, and the importance of appropriate and prudent antibiotic use.
The latest data confirm that across the European Union the number of resistant bacteria infections is increasing, and that antibiotic resistance is a major public health challenge that needs to be addressed. Prudent use of antibiotics can reduce development of resistant bacteria, and allows such medicaments to remain effective for the use of future generations.
This year, the European Antibiotic Awareness Day will be held on the 18th of November 2020.
