Description

In the context of a European IMI AMR (innovative medicines initiative, antimicrobial resistance) 6-year project, we are offering a postdoc position for a project aiming at evaluating pre-clinical activities of new antimycobacterial drugs in murine models for tuberculosis and non-tuberculous mycobacteria.

This project will be performed with collaborating European academic teams having complementary expertise in different topics (chemistry, crystallography, toxicology, zebra fish, clinical trials) and with an industrial partner (Janssen).

We are seeking a highly motivated and autonomous postdoc with proven experience in bacteriology, animal models and statistics. Additional PK/PD expertise would be greatly appreciated.

The postdoc position will cover 4.5 years of salary.

The research activity will take place within the team “Emergence and Diffusion of Multiple Drug Resistance against antibiotics” led by Alexandra Aubry. The team has a strong experience in evaluation of antimycobacterial drugs, epidemiology and mechanisms of drug resistance and possesses technical skills in animal models, bacteriology and biochemistry.

The team is tightly linked to the National Reference Center for mycobacteria allowing access to clinical samples and data. The research center provides access to level 3 laboratory and animal facilities.

Candidates should send a letter of motivation and curriculum vitae to Pr. Alexandra Aubry :

Born from the merger of Université Pierre et Marie Curie and Université Paris Sorbonne, whose campuses are in the heart of Paris, Sorbonne Université covers all major disciplinary fields and offers new transversal academic and research programs. Sorbonne Université hence becomes a fully multidisciplinary research-intensive university with three faculties: Humanities and Social Sciences, Medicine and Sciences & Engineering. With more than 53 400 students (among 10 200 international students), 4400 doctoral students and 6300 researchers, Sorbonne Université is a leading French university.

Sorbonne Université is involved in numerous European and International partnership agreements and has France’s largest scientific library and infrastructures bringing together the best talent in a wide array of these disciplines. With 8,500 publications per year (approx. 10% of all publications in France), Sorbonne Université is a major player in international knowledge and innovation economy, offering transversal academic and research programs. Following its tradition in hosting excellent researchers from around the world, Sorbonne Université currently hosts about 30 MSCA PhD students and post-doctoral fellows. Sorbonne Université will dedicate 2018 to the implementation of the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers in all merged structures.

Admin & Institutional support Sorbonne Université

The office for Research and Innovation managed so far 150 FP7 and 100 H2020 projects (38 ERC grants and 45 industry-sponsored research chairs). It assists the researchers for all the administrative, financial and legal aspects of the research projects. In particular, the research officers ensure a follow up of the project results and their adequate exploitation and technology transfer, in partnership with the Technology Transfer company SATT Lutech. Legal officers also advise on all intellectual property issues such as patents, copyrights, software licences etc. The International Relations office offers assistance for international scholars and students for all their installation needs such as visas, lodging, French language classes etc. The Human resources office is in charge of employment contracts for international scholars and PhD students.

All contracts include full social security benefits, including health, unemployment and retirement benefits, and a participation to transport expenses. The SU employees also have free access to sport facilities and sport classes. Sorbonne Université Communication office is in charge of the internal and external communication of the University, and can be of assistance for the dissemination of outreach activities, press release of results etc.

Cooperation for research

Sorbonne Université joins resources with the most significant French research entities in “Joint Research Units” dedicated to specific societal challenges. Amongst other, plurennial partnerships with the National Center for Scientific Research (CNRS), the INSERM, the Institut Curie, the Institut Pasteur create 94 joint structures, 31 of which are dedicated to medical research.Cimi-Paris is focused on understanding of functions of the immune system, in normal and pathologic conditions, and aspects of immune responses to infectious agents.

The center gathers scientific and clinical competencies engaged in training and in research in the areas of immunology, inflammation, microbiology, host-pathogen interactions and vaccinology.

Cimi-Paris is located at Faculty of Medicine at La Pitié-Salpêtrière Hospital, providing an excellent environment for clinical collaborations in fields of infectious diseases, transplantation, hematology, immunology and internal medicine. The Cimi-Paris brings together practitioners, clinicians and researchers working in Immunology and Infectious Diseases. The investigators address a wide range of aspects of the immune responses and of the host/pathogen interactions, as well as the ability of micro-organisms to overcome anti-infective therapeutics, from the single cell level to animal models and human pathologies. We believe that this combined effort is a powerful approach to decipher the immune system and to develop novel strategies to fight infections and autoimmune / inflammatory disorders.

These programs rely on the strong connections built with the National Reference Centres (on Malaria, Tuberculosis and Autoimmune disorders) and the clinical departments (Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases, Transplantation, Hematology and Immunology) of the PitiéSalpêtrière Hospital.

Entangled with research activities, the Cimi-Paris is one of the main actors of Sorbonne Université in biology. The investigators devise, improve and participate in educational programs in immunology, bacteriology, virology and parasitology. The scientific, technological and clinical expertise of the Cimi-Paris lead to the development of partnerships with leading scientific institutions, with large pharmaceutical companies, and with startup companies, all of which are indicators and reflect the national and international scope of the Cimi-Paris, website currently under renovation, therefore some information is not yet updated).
