QUALIFICATIONS
- A doctoral degree (level 10 NFQ) in microbiology, chemistry, biochemical engineering, biochemistry or related discipline.
OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The post doctoral researcher will design, produce and test innovative dual acting antimicrobial peptide drug formulations and also aid in the design of high throughput testing of combinations of AMPs and small molecule antibiotics.
They will aid in the production antimicrobial peptides (AMPs) at scale, characterise them in terms of structure, stability and activity under the funded SFI New Frontiers programme of work.
DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a motivated post doctoral researcher with microbiological expertise to join a multidisciplinary project team.
The role will involve working closely with a team of microbiologists, chemists and chemical engineers to design innovative delivery systems for dual acting antimicrobial peptides, produced and characterised by the team.
Eligibility criteria
Essential Criteria:
- A doctoral degree (level 10 NFQ) in microbiology, chemistry, biochemical engineering, biochemistry or related discipline.
- Experience with bacteria fermentation, bacterial growth/inhibition assays and mammalian cell cytotoxicity assays.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
