The SC meets regularly to discuss strategic issues, develop proposals for the MB and follows the implementation of activities by the JPIAMR Secretariat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Steering Committee Members<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Jan-Ingvar J\u00f6nsson, Sweden,&nbsp;<em>Chair<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Jan-Ingvar J\u00f6nsson is Vice-Chancellor and Professor at Link\u00f6ping University in Sweden. He was member of the Scientific Council for Medicine and Health at the Swedish Research Council during the period 2013-2015, and from 2016 until the summer of 2020 he was secretary general of the Swedish Research Council, with scientific responsibility for medicine and health. Prof. J\u00f6nsson holds several national commissions, and in 2017 he was appointed to lead the newly established National research programme in antibiotic resistance in Sweden. He is national representative of several international organisations and is since 2019 chair of JPIAMR. He is also involved in collaboration between several other research funding agencies and policy makers worldwide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Marie-C\u00e9cile Ploy, France,&nbsp;<em>Vice Chair<\/em><\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/bactoubac.com\/speaker\/marie-cecile-ploy\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Marie-C\u00e9cile Ploy<\/a>, PharmD, PhD, is a Professor of Microbiology at the Faculty of Medicine and Limoges Teaching Hospital, Limoges University, France. She is head of the Bacteriologyvirology-hygiene department at the Limoges teaching hospital and director of the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.unilim.fr\/resinfit\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Inserm RESI<\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/www.unilim.fr\/resinfit\/\">NFIT<\/a>&nbsp;research unit on antimicrobials at the Limoges University. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She is part of numerous Committees on Antimicrobial resistance at the national level. She was the coordinator of the European Joint Action an Antimicrobial resistance and healthcare-associated infections (<a href=\"https:\/\/eu-jamrai.eu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.eu-jamrai.eu<\/a>) from 2017 to 2021. She is an expert for numerous national and international research programmes on antimicrobial resistance. She is vice-dean for research at the Faculty of Medicine, Limoges University.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Kathleen D\u2019Hondt, Belgium<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Kathleen D\u2019Hondt joined the Department of Economy, Science and Innovation of the Flemish government as a Policy Analyst in 2006 and joined in 2013 the OECD as a senior policy analyst in the Working Party on Bio-, Nanoand<br>Converging Tech (BNCT). Since 2016 she is back at the Department of Economy, Science and Innovation of the Flemish government. She is the Belgian representative in the programme Committee for Health and also participated in the preparatory phase towards the establishment of JPIAMR and was member of its management board ever since. Kathleen coordinates the SAPHIRe (Securing the Adoption of Personalised Health in Regions), a coordination action under Horizon 2020, and S3P4PM, a smart specialisation partnership on Personalised Medicine, which now evolved into aVanguard Initiative pilot on Smart Health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Henning G\u00e4deke, Germany<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr Henning G\u00e4deke joined the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) in 2012 where he works in the Division \u201cGlobal Health Research\u201d. There, he is responsible for international cooperation, particularly within the framework of G7, G20, in the European context and in pandemic response (Access to COVID-19 Tools Accelerator \u2013 ACT-A). From 2017 to 2021, he was the research attach\u00e9 at the Permanent Representation of Germany to the EU in Brussels where he was responsible for the negotiations of the EU Framework Programme for Research and Innovation Horizon Europe, the EIT package and the European Partnership package, among other things. He chaired the Council\u2019s Research Working Party and the Joint Working Party on Research\/Atomic Questions during Germany\u2019s Presidency of the Council of the EU in 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Charu Kaushic, Canada<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Dr. Charu Kaushic is the Scientific Director of the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR)-Institute of Infection and Immunity, serving in this role since July 1, 2018.&nbsp; Dr. Kaushic is also a tenured Full Professor in the Department of Pathology and Molecular Medicine in McMaster University, Hamilton, Canada. In her role as the Scientific Director for CIHR-III, Dr. Kaushic is responsible for making decisions for CIHR strategic investments in the area of infection and immunity nationally and internationally. She also represents CIHR and Government of Canada at various national and international forums related to infectious diseases. In this capacity she serves as a Co-Chair of GloPID-R, a global consortium of funders in pandemic preparedness and emergency response research. She also represents Canada on the JPIAMR Management Board.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Gian-Maria Rossolini, Italy<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Gian Maria Rossolini, MD, ESCMID Fellow, is Professor of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology at the University of Florence, Italy, and Director of the Clinical Microbiology and Virology Unit of Florence Careggi University Hospital. Previously, has served as Professor of Microbiology and Clinical Microbiology at the University of Siena, where he also acted as Chair of the Department of Molecular Biology and as Dean of the Medical Faculty. He has been Chair of the Antimicrobials Committee of the Italian Society of Clinical Microbiologists, is currently a member of the coordination group for the Italian National Plan for Contrasting Antimicrobial Resistance and of the EUCAST Steering Committee.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Article published in JPIAMR newsletter, on March 23, 2022 JPIAMR is pleased to welcome the new Steering Committee appointed at the Management Board meeting held online 16-17 March.
